Having started the day on the positive territory, the U.S. stock market somewhat lost its optimism by the end of the trading session, showing a rather modest gain within a third of a percentage point on the main stock indices. The Real Estate and Housing sectors were the favorites of the day while the Technology sector was a clear outsider. Continuing to receive quite optimistic corporate reporting alleviates a little the fears of traders about the future of the discount rate of the U.S. Federal Reserve System. Outgoing macroeconomic data also speak about continuing smooth weakening of economic processes.
