The increased geopolitical tensions in the Bab-El-Mandeb Strait heightened traders' concerns about instability of prices for major energy resources, as well as threats to supply chains from Asian regions to Europe. All this, together with the fact that the U.S. stock exchanges are closed on Monday, led to fairly unimpressive trading, which brought the major stock indices to a near-zero close. The participants are waiting for quarterly reports and are not inclined to make aggressive moves in their trading portfolios.
